About Sue Reynolds
For much of my life, I believed the rules I had been taught about being a woman:
- Work hard.
- Be agreeable.
- Don’t make people uncomfortable.
- Don’t be too ambitious.
- Someone will notice your effort.
Some of those lessons served me. Many of them didn’t.
As my career evolved, I realized that many of the “rules” I’d accepted weren’t universal truths. They were inherited beliefs about how women were expected to behave. Beliefs that often made us smaller, quieter, and less visible than our abilities deserved.
That realization changed not only how I led, but why I do this work.
Today, I help ambitious women recognize the hidden rules they’re still carrying, decide which ones serve them, and let go of the ones that don’t.
I believe we have more agency than we sometimes realize. We can’t control every workplace bias or every organizational culture. We can control how we show up, how we communicate, the stories we tell ourselves, and the choices we make in response.

It’s not about changing your personality. It’s about understanding how language, perception, and workplace dynamics influence leadership, and learning to navigate them with intention while staying true to yourself.
Professionally, I’m a digital marketing and communications leader and the founder of Carmine Media. I’ve spent my career leading marketing teams, navigating corporate environments, and helping organizations communicate more effectively.
During the COVID era, I began sharing practical workplace communication insights online. What started as a few videos grew into a community of hundreds of thousands of professionals looking for something more practical than generic career advice.
Today I write, speak, coach, and create content that helps women make sense of the hidden rules of work so they can communicate with greater clarity, build influence intentionally, and lead in a way that reflects who they really are.
Because I don’t believe women need to become someone else to succeed.
I believe they deserve the freedom to choose their own way of leading, not unconsciously live by someone else’s script.
